Position Overview

The Live Training vertical within Cole Engineering Services, Inc. provides modern training capabilities and services in support of collective, force-on-force training as well as home station training.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our engineering team. The intern will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, collaborate with experienced engineers, and gain hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, and testing. This internship provides a unique opportunity to apply engineering principles and develop practical problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, analysis, and development of mechanical components and systems.
  • Support the creation of CAD models, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct engineering calculations and simulations to evaluate design feasibility.
  • Participate in prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project development.
  • Document test results, design changes, and engineering processes.
  • Perform research on materials, manufacturing processes, and emerging technologies
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering concepts.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and apply new engineering concepts.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). 
    Experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, or other fabrication methods.
    Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U. S. Citizenship status with ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.  Security Clearance requirements will be specified in the Government's Task Order.
