Responsibilities

The Communications Specialist area of responsibility is to maintain functionality of, and provide maintenance of alarms, warnings, notifications, access control and video systems.

  • Perform daily operations, and general maintenance of access control servers, including patching and upgrading.
  • Create and assign user accounts and access permissions as directed by the customer.
  • Install and maintain the Alarm, Warning, Notification, Access Control and Video Systems.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Must have 5 to 7 years’ experience managing and or leading a team to work with Secure Video Systems, Giant Voice, PA Systems, and Audio Warning Systems. Additionally, experience maintaining:
    • Redundant CPUs
    • Magnetic card reader systems
    • Entry and exit turnstiles
    • Motion detectors
    • Door sensors
    • Video security systems
    • Digital and analog Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) video cameras
    • PTZ control units
    • Digital and analog recording devices, both networked and standalone
    • Video access control peripheral devices (video encoder/decoders, and video monitor displays)
  • Must be able to operate boom trucks, scissor lifts, and other heavy equipment necessary to install and maintain devices.
  • Perimeter alarm monitor systems include:
    • Fence sensors, video control panels, alarm annunciators, perimeter lighting, associated emergency generators, associated uninterruptible power systems, perimeter fencing, infra-red systems, microwave systems and surveillance cameras. This does not include the real property portion of the Alarm, Warning and Notification systems such as fences, turnstiles, gates, and perimeter lighting.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience with cable management and rack systems a plus

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures
  • Must be able to work on elevated lifts to access devices higher than 20ft
