Position Overview

Cole Engineering Services Inc (CESI) is seeking a highly motivated technical lead to join our high-performing team supporting the Persistent Cyber Training Environment (PCTE), the DoD’s pre-eminent cyber training and operations platforms. The Cyber Range Operations Lead will provide technical leadership for the development of cyber training software products covering ease of deployment, system performance, availability, and application security. This will be a key position within the organization providing technical and operational direction and oversight of cyber range engineer teams. 

 

This is a full-time on-site position located in Annapolis Junction, MD.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evolve cyber range development and designs in a complex system of virtual environments. 
  • Work with Persistent Cyber Training Environment (PCTE) Operations Group (OG) teams to ensure the design of new cyber training capabilities, and enhancements to existing capabilities meet the deployment objectives and adhere to technology and system architectural guidelines. 
  • Provide Leadership and direction in determining performance metrics across cyber training ranges. 
  • Assist in implementation of complex hardware and software applications across the PCTE training enterprise. 
  • Assess the feasibility of integrating new technologies within PCTE systems. 
  • Leads cyber range engineer teams in diagnosing complex issues and bugs across cyber training systems. 

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, systems or software engineering from an accredited college or university, or 6 years of experience in lieu of degree. 
  • Minimum 8 plus years of systems engineering experience demonstrating increasing complex engineering roles and technical responsibility. 
  • IAT Level II certification in accordance with DoD Directive 8570.
  • Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of offensive and defensive cyber space operations, to include cyber range design and cyberspace training operations.
  • The candidate should have excellent communication skills and significant experience in providing technical leadership for complex computing systems design and/or software development efforts. 
  • Experience developing and/or extending architectural models/views from which detailed systems design and component construction can be accomplished.
  • Developing and performing architecture tradeoff comparisons based on architecture modeling results.
  • Collecting, assimilating, and analyzing performance data that supports the improvement of cyber range operations.
  • Monitoring system-wide performance results, comparing these results with expectations, analyzing performance gaps, identifying areas of concern, and leading performance investigations and optimization efforts as needed across PCTE systems.
  • Experience in hosted application deployment, system load testing and load balancing technologies.

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U. S. Citizenship status with a TS/SCI with CI polygraph security clearance. Security Clearance requirements will be specified in the Government's Task Order. 

Salary Range

Salary Minimum: $170,000, Salary Maximum: $220,000

 

The annual base salary provided is a guideline for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. When extending an offer, CESI also considers other variables such as (but not limited to) work experience, education, training, skill set, internal peer equity, clearance level, and market conditions.
