Overview

By Light is hiring a Senior Software Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting software development projects for the Department of Veterans Affairs. A mix of Java and other languages is desired with experience using COTS products.

 

By Light is an IT products and services firm specializing in software development, satellite/terrestrial communications, cyber security, and network engineering/design. Headquartered in Arlington, VA, we provide support worldwide to DOD, Federal Civilian, and Health IT customers.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience with software development and at least 2 years as a development team lead
  • At least 5 years of experience developing in the Java language
  • At least 2 years of experience with J2EE enterprise service development
  • Hands on experience with Pega COTS product
  • Hands on experience developing in additional languages, to include JavaScript and C/C++/C#
  • Experience extending the Pega product with custom code (preferred) or a similar IdM system otherwise
  • Experience designing and developing complex solutions including web service integrations with multiple external systems
  • Strong experience with unit-testing
  • Experience interfacing with database systems through SQL, JDBC, etc. Preferably including light weight table/SQL development (but NOT looking for a DBA)
  • Experience with Rational Jazz tools
  • Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) systems such as Jenkins or similar
  • Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Experience creating, processing, analyzing and troubleshooting XML encapsulated data
  • Familiarity with DOS/Windows/PowerShell scripting
  • Experience coding and testing secure HTTP/SSL connections, analyzing communication problems, such as certificate errors, and SSL handshake errors
  • Significant experience analyzing requirements documents and identifying problems such as vague or incomplete requirements, and engaging with customer to resolve these requirement problems
  • Experience estimating the level of effort associated with development to meet requirements
  • Experience with agile and SCRUM development processes
  • Experience documenting the software design and relevant details of an implementation
  • Secure coding/ and analysis with tools such as HP Fortify
  • Experience interacting with LDAP service
