Overview

By Light is hiring a Financial Analyst to join our team supporting various financial functions for multiple IT projects. The Analyst will perform project monitoring and data control, conduct project audits, manage project financials, and serve as the liaison between project management and finance.

 

By Light is an IT products and services firm specializing in software development, satellite/terrestrial communications, cyber security, and network engineering/design. Headquartered in Arlington, VA, we provide support worldwide to DOD, Federal Civilian, and Health IT customers.

Responsibilities

  • Track project costs, monitor performance against baseline, create purchase requisitions for subcontractor labor and other direct cost funding, and submit monthly financial charts/reports for government tracking.
  • Effectively communicate with Project Managers (PM) regarding contract documents, change orders, and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services-related to billing.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the programs indirect budget tracking spreadsheet.
  • Compare actuals with indirect costs forecast and review monthly with the Program Manager.
  • Analyze and present financial reports, revenue variance, unbilled analysis, and accruals for determination of progress.
  • Prepare final invoice package containing draft and final invoices for all billable projects, including all applicable backup for approval by the Accounting Supervisor.
  • Assess and pursue opportunities for maximization of client billing; communicate with the Accounting Manager as to your observations and actions taken.
  • Research any unbilled issues to optimize the billing possibilities for the billing period.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience performing project control functions
  • Federal Accounting Experience to include cost buildup on T&M and CPFF tasks and the elements of cost in a government contracting project
  • General experience with Deltek, JAMIS or other DCAA compliant cost accounting systems
  • 3+ years of experience with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • 5+ years of experience with MS Excel and a mastery of that application
  • Ability to obtain an OPM or DoD clearance

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Government contracting experience is desired
