The Project Manager will support the research and development of a novel medical device (Junctional Tourniquet) for the control of traumatic hemorrhage. The device will deal with difficult to treat extremity and junctional (groin, shoulder) bleeds that regular tourniquets cannot reach. Effort includes development and structural optimization of a stand-alone and/or integrated prototype and operational assessment of form, fit, and interaction with existing equipment.

  • Responsible for technical management of project.   
  • Manages project support operations involving multiple tasks and personnel.
  • Organizes, directs and coordinates planning and execution of all technical support activities.
  • Directs and manages assigned projects areas to include design and production of prototype; pilot delivery and user evaluation; integration of pilot prototype; system demonstrations; development of training materials and instructional videos; operational assessments; and delivery of manufacturing equivalents.
  • Responsible for capturing, editing, and delivering administrative deliverables to the customer to include progress reports, status and management reports, technical reports, studies, meeting minutes, presentation materials, monthly status reports, and monthly financial reports.
  • Assigns duties and reviews work of subordinates.
  • Meets and confers with stakeholders regarding status of project and progress.
  • Resolves problems, issues or conflicts as required.
  • Responsible for guiding projects from the original concept through final implementation with deliverable to the end user.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Master’s degree in business, operations research, management, computer science, engineering, or related discipline, or at least 10 years related work experience.
  • Experience: 10 years or more of relevant work experience.
  • Supervisory/Managerial Experience: 8-10 years’ experience commensurate with the position requirements.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge and experience with Government regulations, policies, and limitations within their scope of responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Security Clearance: N/A

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience working for or supporting the Naval Medical Research Unit (San Antonio, TX)
  • Experience supporting or assigned to the DoD and/or U.S. Military Service.  
  • Have communication skills to effectively interface with military officials, managers, and subordinates.
  • Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Experience with research and development of medical devices.
  • Experience with regulatory submission and certification of medical devices.
  • Experience with basic medical validation (Technical Data Package).
