The Graphic Designer will support the research and development of a novel medical device (Junctional Tourniquet) for the control of traumatic hemorrhage. The device will deal with difficult to treat extremity and junctional (groin, shoulder) bleeds that regular tourniquets cannot reach. Effort includes development and structural optimization of a stand-alone and/or integrated prototype and operational assessment of form, fit, and interaction with existing equipment.

  • Design and develop working plans, potential concepts and detailed drawings for components and systems from verbal instructions and detailed sketches per the customer goals and objectives.
  • Creates two-dimensional and three-dimensional images, animations and interactions using independent judgment, creativity, and a broad spectrum of software.
  • Work closely with Project Manager Engineers and the Development team to craft and iterate on project needs and goals.
  • Uses technology and artistic skill to design and produce images of many forms, including charts, graphs, illustrations, scientific exhibits, UI displays, packaging, and marketing material.
  • Creating logos, graphics, and designs in support of new and existing products.
  • Assist in the development of training manuals and instructional videos.
  • Makes effective compositional decisions for display of information.
  • Uses various production techniques including computer graphic systems and software.
  • Uses a variety of media to achieve the desired artistic effects.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years related work experience.
  • Experience: 5-8 years or more of relevant work experience.
  • Proficient use of computer graphics software tools including the use of: 3D Studio Max (or similar 3D software package), PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Adobe Flash CS3
  • Ability to paint high quality, detailed textures for real-time 3D content quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to create detailed and complex animations in Adobe Flash CS3.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience supporting or assigned to the DoD and/or U.S. Military Service.  
  • Proactive artistic design style that anticipates and resolves project roadblocks
