The Test Engineer will support the research and development of a novel medical device (Junctional Tourniquet) for the control of traumatic hemorrhage. The device will deal with difficult to treat extremity and junctional (groin, shoulder) bleeds that regular tourniquets cannot reach. Effort includes development and structural optimization of a stand-alone and/or integrated prototype and operational assessment of form, fit, and interaction with existing equipment.

  • Responsible for conducting usability testing to create a prototype medical device.  
  • Plan and facilitate collaborative critiques and analysis & synthesis working sessions.
  • Work closely with visual designers and development teams to ensure that customer goals are met, and design specifications are delivered upon.
  • Analyze and synthesize the results of usability testing to provide recommendations for needed changes.
  • Uses the appropriate technology and techniques available to conduct test requirements.
  • Conducts test planning, entrance/exit criteria development, instrumentation set-up, test support, data collection and analysis, anomaly resolution, test evaluation and reporting.
  • Creates artifacts such as Usability Testing Plan, Testing Scripts, Usability Testing Reports.
  • Creates Quality Control Plan.
  • Performs Quality Audits during all phases of project to include design and production.
  • Implements quality standards and insures that standards meet rules, regulations and guidelines.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years related work experience.
  • Experience: 5-8 years or more of relevant work experience.
  • Must be experienced in developing test requirements and methods of testing.
  • Capable of designing techniques for conducting and performing tests using manual, semiautomated and fully automated methods to develop a final product.
  • Must be familiar with relevant bench, shop, production, and/or manufacturing equipment used to assemble/disassemble, test, analyze, diagnose, and repair end items.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience supporting or assigned to the DoD and/or U.S. Military Service.  
  • Have communication skills to effectively interface with military officials, managers, and subordinates.
