Overview

By Light is seeking a Junior SharePoint Administrator to join our team supporting a Government customer in Washington, DC. This role will require an entry-level professional capable of fulfilling the customer support functions of a large complex IT development and deployment project. The SharePoint Administrator will work closely with project managers, contractors, and customers to resolve or escalate issues with the systems being deployed.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve user tickets and perform ticket management.
  • Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and manage a SharePoint farm.
  • Train and support users on how to upload a document, start an approval workflow, etc.
  • Install and configure Internet Information Services (IIS)
    • Create/manage application pools.
    • Monitor activity for trouble-shooting and capacity planning.
    • Trouble-shoot and remediate ISS issues.
    • Review and apply as needed IIS patches.
    • Create new websites, virtual directories, and applications.
    • Configure custom HTTP settins including error responses, headers, and directory information displayed.
    • Delegate site and application management.
    • Implement security: configure authentication, SSL, authorization rules, and server certificates.
    • Configure web application settings: connections strings, machine keys, SMTP.
    • Migrate applications from on IIS server to another.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience with the creation of a Content Database (DB), maintaining of the DB.
  • Experience assigning of proper permission levels for all users of the site as well as configuring anonymous access if required.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience configuring all service applications like Search, Metadata, and User-Profile Synchronization etc.
  • Experience configuring timer jobs based on business requirements.
  • Solid understanding of IIS Manager, IIS architecture, Active Directory and Mail Configuration.
  • Knowledge of configuration Business Connectivity Services for connecting to a SQL database or a Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) service.
  • Strong understanding of what can be done using Out Of Box (OOB) features in SharePoint.
  • Experience configuring SharePoint service applications.
  • Broad knowledge of Windows networking and authentication.
  • Knowledge of monitoring of disk space, backups and other repetitive tasks that is handled by operational staff.
  • Knowledge of Server Manager and its functionality
  • Knowledge of Active Directory
  • Knowledge of DNS
  • Knowledge of SMTP
  • Knowledge of Network Load Balancing (NLB)
  • Knowledge of Windows Firewall
  • Knowledge of Event Viewer and Performance Monitor
