Overview

A Circuit Implementation Technician (CIT) is competent in all aspects of the design, installation and transition of circuit requirements. A CIT receives a network implementation requirement and develops a comprehensive solution for the on-time and under-budget deployment of the service or capability.  He/She works with various government and non-government Points of Contact to fully integrate the requirement within existing infrastructure while minimizing risk to active systems.  All proposed designs are in strict adherence to mandated Federal and Industry standards.  Once designs are approved and implementation planning is complete, the CIT facilitates and completes the action in accordance with the implementation plan.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Site Survey’s, Designs, and Implements complex circuits and systems of devices that link numerous computing platforms, operating systems and network topologies across widely dispersed geographical areas.
  • The implementation of engineering processes that provide for timely and appropriate integration of all engineering disciplines to ensure a network system design that meets all requirements
  • Identifies problems and risk areas and mitigates their impact 
  • Performs technical design reviews
  • Supports senior staff as required and ensures customer requirements and project milestones are met.
  • Installs, tests, and commissions various components as upgrades to existing telecommunications systems as well as the assembly of complete platforms
  • Proficient in the design and use of various distribution systems to include fiber optics, copper signaling, and AC/DC power.
  • Performs trouble-shooting to accomplish assigned work using optical power meters, visual fault locators, multi-meters, BER test sets, oscilloscopes, optical time domain reflectometers, and other instruments to identify problems and validate system functionality
  • Coordinates with site personnel to accomplish equipment installations
  • Interfaces with Network Operations Center representatives to complete testing and acceptance with upgrade actions and new system turn-ups
  • Travel: 80% - OCONUS travel may be required

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience with Juniper/Cisco/Ciena/Sycamore(Coriant)/SONUS(NET) Promina products.
  • Related industry experience in information technology or engineering.
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Office Tools; specifically, Visio & Excel.
  • Excellent communication, effective leadership and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience working with DISA is highly desired.
  • BICSI Certification is desired but not required
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC Power systems and grounding.
  • OEM networking certifications is desired but not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher is desired but not required

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

  • Minimum DOD Secret clearance required
  • Travel: 80% - OCONUS travel may be required
