By Light is seeking an experienced Wireless (WLAN) Engineer to perform network application designing, developing, installation/configuration, packaging, testing, implementing, and Tier 3 level troubleshooting of Aruba and Cisco brand network-related equipment of a large scale government enterprise environment.

  • The primary scope of this work shall include the efforts involved with engineering (designing, developing, installing, configuring, testing, and implementing) various WLAN/LAN task orders involving Aruba and Cisco network solutions
  • Participate in capturing and analyzing technical requirements; documenting detailed system designs, implementation plans, and operations guides of network systems; participate in both project and operational meetings; providing Tier 3 level support utilizing change control processes
  • Serve as a backup to the LAN engineering team to support LAN infrastructure projects
  • Responsible for the research and development of existing and new wireless technologies used to optimize and maintain DOJ’s corporate and nationwide network
  • Designing, testing, installing, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting of Wireless and LAN equipment
  • Working with 3rd party and internal departments in integrating wireless equipment with current WAN and security infrastructure
  • Optimizing wireless performance while fulfilling security requirements for user/device authentication, encryption and intrusion detection, i.e. 802.1x RADIUS Authentication using EAP-TLS
  • Responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and modification of wireless network hardware and software, including: 
    • Cisco Switches (3750 & 3850 experience preferred) 
    • Wireless Controllers (Aruba experience preferred)
    • Guest registration web portal 
    • Recommending configuration changes and software upgrades
    • Configuration and testing of QoS for voice & video, VLANS, ACL’s, GRE tunnels, VRRP, etc.
    • 802.1x RADIUS authentication using EAP-TLS
    • 802.11 a/b/g/i/n/ac
    • Site Surveys: Using AirMagnet analysis software or equivalent
  • Provides tier 3 support in the area of LAN/WLAN networks, client devices, including hand-held devices and associated LAN and WAN connectivity
  • Responsible for documentation of installed networks, to include systems design, operations and implementations guides, Visio design drawings, etc
  • Maintains the security and integrity of all wireless hardware and software

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • 5+ years of wireless engineering experience using Aruba products
  • Must have an Aruba certification such as ACMP, ACMX, ACDX ACSP, ACMA, ACMP, ACCP
  • Current EOUSA Public Trust Level 6 or DOD Secret clearance required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Visio
  • Candidate must have strong problem-solving, as well as the ability to interact well with both internal and external engineers, technicians, and customers
  • Must be able to multi-task, required to provide daily status/updates to supervisors/managers

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Four-year bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 200x OS platforms; to include DNS & DHCP functions
  • Proficiency with Airwave management platform
  • Utilization of Windows 2008r2, 2012r2, and Linux servers
  • Policy making and management for Layer 2 QoS packet markings and conformance
  • Understanding of DNS, DHCP, IP subnetting, addressing, and Variable Length Subnet Masks
  • Understanding of SSL certificates
