By Light is seeking an experienced Wireless (WLAN) Systems Architect to perform network application designing, developing, installation/configuration, packaging, testing, implementing, and Tier 3 level troubleshooting of Aruba and Cisco brand network-related equipment of a large scale government enterprise environment.

  • The primary scope of this work shall include the efforts involved with engineering (designing, developing, installing, configuring, testing, and implementing) various WLAN/LAN task orders involving Aruba network solutions
  • Participate in capturing and analyzing technical requirements; documenting detailed system designs, implementation plans, and operations guides of network systems; participate in both project and operational meetings; providing Tier 3 level support utilizing change control processes
  • Serve as a reach-back to field engineering team supporting a variety of infrastructure projects
  • Responsible for the research and development of existing and new wireless technologies used to optimize and maintain DOD, commercial and corporate and networks including the design, configuration, implementation, testing and troubleshooting of Wireless and LAN components and networks
  • Working with 3rd party and internal departments in integrating wireless equipment with current WAN and security infrastructure
  • Optimizing wireless performance while fulfilling security requirements for user/device authentication, encryption and intrusion detection, i.e. 802.1x RADIUS Authentication using EAP-TLS
  • Responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and modification of wireless network hardware and software. Which include: 
    • Network Switches- Aruba, Cisco, Brocade (Ruckus)
    • Aruba WAN architecture in bot indoor and outdoor environment
    • Outdoor Point to point and Mesh Architectures
    • Aruba ClearPass/ Airwave management
    • Configuration and testing of QoS for voice & video, VLANS, ACL’s, GRE tunnels, VRRP, etc.
    • 802.1x RADIUS authentication using EAP-TLS
    • Indoor and outdoor Site Surveys
  • Provides tier 3 support with LAN/WLAN networks, client devices, including hand-held devices and associated LAN and WAN connectivity
  • Responsible for documentation of installed networks, to include systems design, operations and implementations guides, Visio design drawings, etc
  • Maintains the security and integrity of all wireless hardware and software
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Visio


Required Experience/Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in wireless and network communications industry is required
  • Must have or obtain DoD 8140 (Formerly 8570) certification level IAT-I
  • Aruba Certified Mobility Expert, Aruba Certified Design Expert, or Aruba Certified ClearPass Professional required
  • Familiarity with AirMagnet Survey analysis software or equivalent
  • Proficiency with Aruba’s Airwave management platform

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Four-year bachelor’s degree
  • Aruba certifications: ACMP, ACMX, ACDX ACSP, ACMA, ACMP, ACCP
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 200x OS platforms; to include DNS & DHCP functions
  • Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP) or equivalent
