  • Overview

    The Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Hardware/Software Specialist Lead provides advanced hardware/ software support on all aspects of SATCOM equipment.  Is extremely knowledgeable in space and/or communications system and Government or military software applications and databases that may be used in the development of satellite communications equipment, requirements development and operational software applications/ tools. Works directly on problems that are complex to analyze, plan, program, and operate. Confers with the Network Systems Engineering Lead and authorities to determine the hardware/software application requirements of the program.  Analyzes problems within the program and makes recommendations based on input from the Government.

    • Provide software development and operational maintenance support in order to solve analytical problems and assist system/concept assessment. This support includes: software upgrades, the development of Test & Evaluation Master Plans and Procedures, software Verification and Validation (V&V) testing, documentation updates, and SDB data extracts (Product and Analysis Request (PAR)).
    • Upgrade the curriculum and training material for the SDB-MT software updates.
    • Install and maintain the unclassified SDB-MT/SDB software suite.
    • Manage users’ account and provide user support.
    • Participate in work meetings.
    • Provide SDB-MT and OASIS training to small groups of users.

    Required Experience/Qualifications

    • More than five years of experience administering, operating, and maintaining SATCOM hardware/software systems.
    • Current DOD 8570.01-M IAT Level II.
    • Candidates must possess one of the following:
      • Bachelor’s degree Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other technical discipline + five (5) years’ experience of which at least three (3) years must be specialized.
      • AA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or technical discipline + seven (7) years’ experience of which at least four (4) years must be specialized.                      
      • Relevant military training or one and one-half (1½) years of relevant military experience + an additional seven (7) years’ experience of which at least six (4) years must be specialized. 
    • Working knowledge Microsoft Office Tools; specifically Excel and Project.
    • Structured Query Language (SQL).
    • High Proficiency in Database Management.
    • High Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (or above).
    • High Proficiency in Computer Network Architecture.
    • High Proficiency in Technical Writing.
    • Excellent communication, effective leadership and interpersonal skills.  

    Preferred Experience/Qualifications

    • Experience working with DISA is desired but not required

    Special Requirements/Security Clearance

    • Minimum SECRET Clearance required
