    By Light is hiring Network Installation Technicians to join our team supporting multiple DISA network installation projects. The technicians will support accelerated transition to service for DRSN IP Transport Network across 45 sites globally within a nominal 7-month period. This surge is to be accomplished using multiple test and turn up teams to complete up to 4 sites concurrently. This surge support will perform test and turn-up, including both remote support using DRSN Management Suites and on site touch support as needed at each of the 45 sites.

    Responsibilities

    The functions within the Network Installation Technician job category will vary by level and organization, but may include the following:

    • Installs telecommunications racks/cabinets, overhead structures as well as various distribution systems to include fiber optics, copper signaling, and DC power
    • Installs, tests, and commissions various components as upgrades to existing telecommunications systems as well as the assembly of complete platforms
    • Performs trouble-shooting to accomplish assigned work using optical power meters, visual fault locators, multi-meters, BER test sets, oscilloscopes, optical time domain reflectometers, and other instruments to identify problems and validate system functionality
    • Provides feedback to engineering group to identify shortages and discrepancies with installation packages and plans to arrive at appropriate solutions for installation efforts
    • Coordinates with site personnel to accomplish equipment installations
    • Interfaces with GNSC representatives to complete testing and acceptance with upgrade actions and new system turn-ups.

     

    Intermediate Network Installation Technician employees perform a full range of work involving the installation of various types of telecommunications platforms, supporting components, racks/cabinets, overhead ladder systems, fiber ducting, and DC distribution equipment. Intermediate technicians should be able to work independently on upgrades and routine installation efforts, with minimal oversight on large installations. Responsibilities may also be assigned for providing training or guidance to other technicians in the completion of assigned work.

     

    Lead Network Installation Technician employees are assigned responsibilities involving the supervision of others in the installation, test and turn-up of telecommunication equipment and related components. This includes assignment and review of work, assessment of performance, insuring completion of assigned projects or activities, and providing training or assistance as needed. Leads are responsible for the coordination and communication with team member to coordinate dispatches, assure quality control of installation efforts, and delegation of responsibilities for completion of final customer deliverables. No supervision is necessary to complete installation efforts.

    Required Experience/Qualifications

    • Prior DRSN experience required
    • At least six years of experience in the maintenance, repair or construction of various types of telecommunications or other electronic equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Working knowledge Microsoft Office Tools; specifically, Visio & Excel
    • Excellent communication, effective leadership and interpersonal skills

    Preferred Experience/Qualifications

    • BICSI Certification is desired but not required
    • Working knowledge of AC/DC Power systems and grounding
    • OEM networking certifications is desired but not required
    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher is desired but not required

    Special Requirements/Security Clearance

    • Up to 90% travel may be required
    • TS-SCI Security Clearance required
    • Must be a US Citizen
