Overview

By Light supports a government customer in the operations and maintenance of their IT infrastructure. This means our team includes System and Storage Engineers, DBA’s, Platform Support and even a 24x7 operations staff. We act as technical subject matter experts for complex customer environments. We build customer relationships in order to understand unique customer needs and provide technical expertise and a comprehensive understanding of customer environments.

Responsibilities

  • Administration of all supported Windows Server operating systems with experience supporting a true enterprise environment.
  • Security vulnerabiltiy remediation in the form of daily, weekly and monthly Windows patching.
  • Administration of our VMWare ESXi 6.x enviornment as needed
  • Administration of our Airwatch MDM environment, in support of approximately 1000 mobile devices.
  • Timely response to daily alerts from the 24x7 operations staff on server related issues, such as space alerts, users account administration and provisioning new virtual machines.
  • Be part of a 24x7 “on-call” engineering team, which really just means you should plan on monthly patch windows and the occaisional after hours call if you're on in the rotation. 

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • 5-7 years’ related and proven experience in Windows Server system administration.
  • Proven experience building and supporting VMware HA/DRS/SRM enterprise environments

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Recent experience supporting AWS cloud environments. AWS associate certificate nice to have.
  • Proven experience writing scripts in Powershell or other scripting languages
  • Experience support MDM solutions, such as Airwatch, Mobile Iron, or InTune
  • Ability to solve complex problems spanning multiple technologies and disciplines
  • Methodical approach to change execution and implementation
  • Demonstrated history of developing documentation and operational process
  • Ability to take ownership of issue analysis and resolution efforts and commitment to resolve technical issues in a 24x7 SLA-bound operating environment

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

  • Candidates must be able to successfully pass a background investigation
  • Be part of a 24x7 “on-call” engineering team, which really just means you should plan on monthly patch windows and the occaisional after hours call if you're on in the rotation
