Join our growing team of remote engineers supporting the designing of a new military and commercial computing products. You will be part of the R&D team developing multi-level secure collaboration systems for the Navy, Air Force, Joint and Department of Homeland Security.  This innovative solution allows users to collaborate across security boundaries (Top Secret/Secret/Unclassified) using different collaboration applications such as text-chat., whiteboard, voice, video and others.

By Light is seeking a self-starting QA Engineer with the ability to work in a small, close-knit team environment.  Candidate will be responsible for testing the cross-domain product line. This includes test design, implementation, execution and debugging. Candidate will work closely with developers to produce a product of the highest possible quality.

• Ensure that quality processes are carried out through all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle
• Create/analyze required project documents
• Analyze functional and technical system design for testability
• Participate in analysis and design walkthroughs, as well as project meetings
• Develop and implement efficient and effective project testing strategies
• Collaborate with project team resources to understand and prioritize system testing efforts
• Convert business requirements/functional specifications into test plans and test cases
• Work closely with software developers to develop test specifications
• Design and execute manual and automated tests
• Manage test environments
• File and monitor bugs
• Lead bug triage meetings
• Report project test status to project manager
• Lead more junior level testers and assign test responsibilities
• Take initiative to improve QA tools and process
• Help improve overall quality of the product

• Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree or higher in Software Engineering or related field required
  • 10+ years of experience in QA and web automation tools (a must)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

• At  least one high-level programming language experience (Java preferable)
• Strong background in Windows/Linux OS administration
