Overview

By Light Professional IT Services (By Light) is looking for motivated and qualified professionals to support the U.S. Army Futures Command (AFC), Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC), Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Center, Intelligence, and Information Warfare Directorate’s (I2WD) Operations Division Network Branch located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Requirements includes communication and systems support, information assurance, automation, computer network, telephone control, support for software development and integration, procurement and inventory support to the C5ISR Center and their tenant organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Supports engineering efforts that provide engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development, and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline required to meet technical requirements.
  • Offers recommendations and advice on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.
  • Provide Microsoft Active Directory organizational unit (OU) administration.
  • Provide system administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance for physical & virtual servers, ESX hosts, vCenter and VSAN instances. 
  • Provide day to day operational support.
  • Control and coordinate support response with the local Regional Network Enterprise Center (RNEC) to include submission and management of ticket requests to RNEC/2RCC.
  • Comply will the C5ISR helpdesk ticketing/management strategy.
  • Provide required support to ACAS scans/ IA vulnerability alert compliance/McAfee host-based security system (HBSS)/ Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server.
  • Apply current operating system patches and security patches electronically or manually.  
  • Provide recommendations for server architecture / datacenter efficiencies and ways in which to utilize emerging technology for C5ISR Center server farms.
  • Perform full & incremental backups (weekly, monthly, yearly) for mission critical C5ISR Center information, applications, directory stores & databases.
  • Develop replication strategies to ensure that mission critical data is stored in secure, off-site facilities.
  • Create & manage shared folders on business network storage arrays or cloud storage solutions such as MilDrive. 
  • Monitor storage area network space and maintain Storage Area Networks (e.g., home directories, workgroup shares). 
  • Manage application and database servers to include shares, permissions, IIS, Oracle Berkeley, Java, FileMaker, SQL, and Tomcat.
  • Coordinate with RNEC and 2RCC to configure external services such as reverse proxy, Domain Name System (DNS), certificate requests, and Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans.
  • Manage registered application(s’) product software upgrades/updates for compliance, such as Java, FileMaker, Oracle Berkeley, and Tomcat.
  • Provide support for registered application development environments.
  • Align managed systems concerning Windows Operating Systems, UNIX operating systems, images, containers, PODs, Nodes, or other applicable cloud computing technologies, registered applications, and supporting application technologies to current DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)/security requirements guides (SRG), and applicable guidance.
  • Provide administration, re-factoring support, architecture, planning, and execution of required cloud computing aspects, such as building and maintaining registered applications in an Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure environment.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience: 8 Years or no degree and actively working 4-year BS/BA (60 credits) with 20 years’ experience.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree, or a AS/AA and 10-years’ experience or a BA in a relevant technical area with 8 years of experience.
  • Certifications: Security+; Microsoft Certification Windows Server 2016; and MCP.
  • Demonstrated ability in related engineering discipline.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Supported the U.S. Army or other Federal Agency.
  • Has the communication skills to effectively interface with senior military officials, managers, and subordinates.

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

  • Security Clearance: Top Secret/SCI with Poly
