Overview

By Light is looking to hire a Senior System Administrator to provide support to our client at the Department of Veterans Affairs. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in Remedy, SQL Server, Tomcat and Java.  Work location is remote, but may be required to be onsite ocasionally at Shepherdstown, WV to perform system maintenance.

Responsibilities

The resource will perform of Tier 1, 2, and 3 PSETS Remedy engineering support. The resouce will provide engineering support during maintenance windows to perform upgrades including bug fixes, minor and major enhancements to the PSETS application, and/or failovers.  Based on historical data, the Government anticipates approximately two (2) major enhancements and 50 minor enhancements per year. A minor enhancement is defined as less than a week of planning and execution. A major enhancement is defined as between a month and 6 months of planning and execution time. The Government estimates requiring approximately five (5) engineering support actions per month.  Maintenance windows are defined as off hour times: before 8:00am, after 4:30pm, and weekend hours.

 

The resource will develop/implement new VA approved PSETS reports and enhance/support existing reports which already reside in PSETS upon request, for the various functional areas to support the tracking, performance, availability and improvement of PSETS. These reports include monthly trend analysis, weekly event reports, daily event reports and reports specific to an incident, etc., utilizing VA provided Crystal Reports, Excel, Word or any other approved reporting tool. The Government estimates requiring approximately fifteen (15) reports per month. 

 

The resource will provide a PSETS Test Plan for all development, enhancement and Remedy migration efforts. The PSETS Test Plan shall detail schedule, test strategy, test scripts (including security testing), criteria, cases, environments, items to be tested, risk and constraints, required resources, and expected results. The Test Plan shall be updated for Government review and approval when additional developments or enhancements are performed.  The resouce will perform security and functionality testing on all development, enhancement and migration of PSETS Remedy Application in the developmental testing environment in accordance with the Government approved Test Plan.  The resouce will provide a PSETS Test Report after completion of testing and document the results of the test.  The Contractor shall identify any defects to the application based on the results.  Upon successful completion of Contractor testing, the Contractor shall provide support for Government conducted User Acceptance

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • BMC Remedy Development
  • Help Research and Design system architecture to include software, hardware, and storage resources
  • Application Support, Development, Maintenance, and Upgrade Planning and Execution
  • Develop, manage and deploy training regarding BMC Remedy and all applicable applications, to include Self-Help Articles and User Manuals.
  • Assist with Creating and Maintaining Standard Operating Procedures and Knowledge Base articles for Remedy Application Design, Deployment, and Troubleshooting
  • Assist the Server and Database Team to Conduct, Evaluate and Remediate penetration testing for all serves in the Remedy application architecture

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Active VA clearance a plus
  • Good communication skills
  • SQL server 2012 and 2017

  • By Light does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters; vaccination requirements and testing are subject to the status of the federal contractor mandate and customer site requirements; testing is at the cost of the employee.
