Overview

Seeking an Azure Cloud Systems Engineer with a desire to work on innovative advanced approaches and technologies and to develop new products and program to solve problems within critical infrastructure markets and industrial environments. In this role you will provide hands-on systems engineering support to build solutions within our cloud-based infrastructure. In addition, you will have an opportunity to work in many domains with a wide variety of challenging work in information technology applications, prototypes and systems.

You will be working in a dynamic and ever-changing environment with an experienced team of individuals that is focused on developing products and services that solve ICS security problems.

Responsibilities

  • Integrates new technologies into new and existing systems, including the transition and migration of corporate systems to the cloud.
  • Participates in cloud system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
  • Contributes to completion of specific engineering programs and projects.
  • Improves reliability, quality, performance for cloud-hosted applications.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems.
  • Perform complex systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end.
  • Oversees complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Performs complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Performs continual maintenance and provides complex solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems.
  • Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.
  • Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology.
  • May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.
  • May serve as a team or task lead.
  • Provides management and consulting services to support cloud services and security.
  • Develops cloud services strategies and provides recommendations on how to transform business solutions using private and public cloud services, including models such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Lab as a Service (LaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
  • Provides consistency in the cloud computing business and service delivery models within the enterprise, including an organizational roadmap surrounding cloud initiatives, best practices, and frameworks enabling standardize to drive more cost-effective operations.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • 8+ years relevant IT experience, with 5+ years specifically operating and managing Azure infrastructure.
  • BA/BS or equivalent years of combined experience and training
  • Experience provisioning and managing Azure infrastructure to include VMs, storage accounts, block storage, VNETs, Network Security Groups and custom roles/permissions
  • Knowledge of DNS services, DHCP, Azure Key Management & Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with managing Azure Active Directory
  • Experience provisioning and managing Azure VPN Gateways, Azure Firewalls, VNET peering and Azure User Defined Routing.
  • Understanding of on-premise to cloud connectivity using VPNs & Azure Express Routes
  • Understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking fundamentals
  • Strong understanding of Cloud Migration methodologies and best practices
  • Expertise in cloud service delivery models
  • Experience with managing & monitoring cloud-based infrastructure, security, and application environments
    Thorough understanding of architecting and automating cloud native technologies; provisioning IaC, IaaS, or SaaS; and deploying applications
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux platforms
  • Experience with virtualization and hypervisors (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, VirtualBox)
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work with a project team to ensure timely deliverable completion
  • Ability to adapt to technical change, to include a willingness to learn new technologies, processes, and tools
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously as necessary
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Azure cloud certification
  • Experience in Agile software development environment and processes (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
  • Development experience in one or more languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, C#)
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, workflows, and associated tools, such as GitLab, Bamboo, SonarQube, etc.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools, including batch scripts, PowerShell, Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Terraform or other similar tools
  • Experience with application containers, runtimes, and automation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of Networking (DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, CIDR Notation, etc.)
  • Familiarity with system, virtual machine, and container vulnerability scanning and remediation

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug, and alcohol screening.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record for the past 3 years.
