Company Overview

Kwajalein Atoll is part of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) and located approximately 2,130 nautical miles west southwest of Honolulu, Hawaii. The major tenants are U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Reagan Test Site and United States Army Garrison – Kwajalein, an activity under the U.S. Army Installation Management Command. Other key tenants include National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Missile Defense Agency, U.S. Air Force, and Department of Energy. 

 

By Light is looking for personnel to deliver comprehensive, integrated, end-to-end Information Technology services, logistics support, and business operations support. Personnel will reside in Government housing, there are no privately-owned automobiles; bicycles or walking are the standard means of transportation; Department of Defense School System is available for kindergarten through 12th grade, a small base exchange and one grocery store is available; a hospital provides very limited outpatient services and limited emergency services. Morale and recreation activities range from SCUBA diving, snorkeling, fishing, surfing, boating, swimming, golf, and tennis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and management oversight of personnel supporting system server administration requirements as outlined below.
  • Provide system administration and operating system support, to include hardware monitoring, for file, print, and common user application servers, and server farms/banks.
  • Monitor file shares and provide support via Remedy tickets.
  • Support file shares via Remedy tickets for units without Active Directory credentials.
  • Provide and install hardware, operating system, and software for file, print, and common user applications servers, and server farms/banks.
  • Load the most current operating system via System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • Perform and analyze STIG and SCAP scans and provide reports to the customer Cybersecurity Division.
  • Conduct ACAS scans, mitigate vulnerabilities discovered, and conduct an additional ACAS scan to ensure remediation is complete.
  • Install security, operating system service packs, patches, and application updates and patches on all common user servers.
  • Test and verify that the patches do not adversely affect the system.
  • Establish a schedule for a recurring monthly authorized service interruption (ASI) schedule with the Regional Network Operations and Security Center (RNOSC), with primary and alternate dates.
  • Perform system backups for each file, print, and common user applications server. Monitor each backup the following day and document any issues. Maintain spreadsheets or reports on daily backups to
  • ensure data on file shares are backed up for restoration.
  • Collect system logs, security logs, and application logs for file, print, and common user applications servers. Report any abnormalities to the Network Enterprise Center (NEC) Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM).
  • Perform release management, to include commercial software, standard software, and site license management, for new system releases for NEC-managed systems.
  • Draft and process Capabilities Requests (CAPR) for new software purchases.
  • Compare STIG/SCAP reports with baseline OS builds to ensure they are in compliance.
  • Install and configure COTS software (for example, SQL), test, and configure it.
  • Provide 911/E911 emergency service server support.
  • Operate and maintain a data center environment for backend computing resources necessary to operate a 911/E911 Emergency Support Center for NEC-managed servers.
  • Provide local touch labor, such as troubleshooting and repair for Enterprise assets managed by the Cyber Center.
  • Operate and maintain file, print, and common user application servers and server farms/banks.
  • Ensure all NEC-managed servers are compliant with STIGs/SCAP, up to date with latest patches, and scanned via ACAS monthly.
  • Mitigate any findings and maintain plan of action and milestones (POA&M) and Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) entries, or future systems performing a similar function.

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree or 6 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience supporting system administrative services.
  • Certifications: DoD 8570.01-M, IAT II - COMPTIA Security+.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Supported the U.S. Army or other DoD/Federal Agency.
  • Has the communication skills to effectively interface with senior military officials, managers, and subordinates.
