The Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) is a key professional specializing in the design and implementation of cable infrastructure systems within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mathematics and IT, with hands-on experience in site visits, data collection, and evaluation of telecommunications systems. The RCDD will maintain inside plant cable infrastructure and develop Equipment Installation Plans (EIPs) for the installation and wiring of cable racks and associated testing.
This position will be primarily on-site at the Pentagon Reservation, where the RCDD will work within secure facilities and must comply with all security protocols. The role may involve travel to various sites for data collection and project management. Due to the nature of the position, there may be occasions that necessitate availability and action outside of standard working hours.
Outstanding mathematical and IT skills, with a strong analytical approach to problem-solving.
Expertise in the design, installation, and maintenance of cable infrastructure, including knowledge of conduit, cable trays, and various cabling types.
Proficiency in developing and interpreting EIPs and ensuring compliance with installation and testing standards.
Familiarity with current codes and technologies pertinent to telecommunications and building technologies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The physical demands for this role include the ability to perform site visits, inspect cable infrastructure, and engage in hands-on installation and testing. The RCDD must be able to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, operate standard office equipment, and maintain a stationary position for prolonged periods when not in the field.
